ON WATCHING 'DRIVING MISS DAISY', AGAIN, RECENTLY.
I recall, while my 1988 afternoon stroll around the block and down Springdale, Oakdale and Lullwater Roads, in Druid Hills, noting my friend Bruce Woodruff's massive, old Cadillac Fleetwood El Dorado, parked outside a house where a Film Crew had assembled...to 'shoot' a scene for an upcoming movie, "DRIVING MISS DAISY". Bruce was leaning against his vehicle, mentioning that he was waiting for Clarice Geigerman to 'finish a scene with Jessica Tandy'.....He made no mention of himself...also appearing in the movie......During the last few minutes of the movie, I noticed Bruce, balding, and in a grey suit...at right, seated at a long table, as Dan Aykroid delivered a speech, accepting a big silver trophy bowl......I watched the scrolling credits at the end of the Film....no mention of Bruce; however, Clarice was listed, near the top of the credits, for her brief scenes...as 'Nonie'..... wherein she played maj jongg and earned a listing on IMDb for her 'work'.....To me, it seemed that Clarice's character, Nonie, was....perhaps....based on real life Atlantan, Sylvia Montag Ferst, who died a couple of years earlier.....
