ANOTHER OBLIQUE OBSERVATION FROM MEMORY AND PRESENT CURIOSITY






by happenstance, I found some info about this small Zaalberg 'cabinet' vase: (Familiebedrijf: 1918-1937 H. Zaalberg Sr., 1937-1962, M.H. Zaalberg, 1962 H. Zaalberg Jr. Eerst onder de naam Pottenbakkerij De Rijn, Vanaf 1942 tot heden wordt uitsluitend de Zaalberg merkstempels gebruikt.) ....in Dutch, of course, which I cannot comprehend.......the vase was made by Meindert Zaalberg...during my visit to Holland and the "Artist Colony" near Soest....

My memory circuits required a massive amount of koffie to dislodge this relatively unimportant information... Then, from another 'memory cell' of my brain.......I remembered my trip to Soest, Holland....to visit my then-pregnant friend, Cheryl Lowe Ransijn.....who was driving a couple of times a week to take piano and Dutch Language lessons from her tutor, Ma Fra Tenkate (spelling as I remember the sound of her name), who also directed, in her multi-lingual home, a Colony of young Artistes who lived under her tutelage and adhered to a Philosophical Stance that was similar to that of Madam Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, a century before.....incorporating Philosophy, Dogmatic Religion and Pseudo-Science....like most Religions, everywhere else in the World....'Required Reading', of course, was THE SECRET DOCTRINE.....Oh, No!.....I'd just escaped a 'reading circle' at The Palace, in Atlanta, where artsy intellectuals sat in a circle...reading excerpts from this paranormalist humbuggery, to a backdrop of Sitar and tabla music that was so fashionable at that time......Well,,,,,,I fled this whacko Einhoven Scenario, as its 'ringleader' pleaded for me to become a member of her Cult of True Believers......and returned to Soest, where I spent the rest of my 'Trip', drawing in sketchbooks.....my 'feelings' about all this........As I was departing, 'Ma Fra' handed me this little curio cabinet vase...as a gift of remembrance.....The little vase has gathered dust in a storage room for decades....until I took it out, yesterday, to 'research'.....since I knew nothing of its origin/maker/meaning-significance......Its surface looks a bit like the NASA photos of the Moon's surface.......

SOME NOTES ON AN ART SCAM SCANDAL.......A GRAVITY OF SHADOWS OVER ATLANTA ART COLLECTORS WHO SOUGHT "ART" AS AN INVESTMENT

I HAD KNOWN DAVID'S FATHER, RICHARD RAMUS, FROM HIS ASSOCIATION WITH AN AUCTION COMPANY, ACROSS PEACHTREE ROAD, FROM A STREET OF ANTIQUES DEALERS SHOPS AND ART/FURNITURE RESTORATIONERS......  DAVID HAD BEEN 'COURTING' ONE OF MY CLIENT'S DAUGHTERS, WITH THE EXPECTATION OF GETTING INTO HER PARENTS DEEP POCKETS........HE OPENED AN ART GALLERY IN THE BUCKHEAD PLAZA OFFICE TOWER, NEAR THE HOMES OF HIS PARENTS RICH FRIENDS AND THEIR RICH FRIENDS AND ACQUAINTENANCES; BUT, AFTER SCAMMING A FEW FOR SOME BIG BUCKS, HE WAS SENT TO PRISON FOR 'I NTERSTATE TRANSPORTATION OF STOLEN ART'. ...EVEN WHILE IN PRISON, DAVID COURTED A RICH, OLDER WOMAN AND CONNED HER OUT OF A WAD OF CASH.....AFTER HAVING ALREADY SWINDLED HIS CHILDHOOD FRIEND, REED GALIN,  AND DEFRAUDING HIS UNSUSPECTING CLIENTS OUT OF OVER A HALF MILLION BUCKS.......YET, HE GETS THE 'GET OUT OF JAIL....PRACTICALLY FREE....CARD.....AND BECOMES A SUCCESSFULL WRITER WITH 'A THIEF OF LIGHT' AND 'GRAVITY...

PAY ATTENTION....THERE'S BUT A SECOND..OR TWO...TO 'CATCH' THE DETAILS BEFORE THEIR FLIGHT FROM MEMORY .....

on the screen for a couple of seconds, before Samantha Bee's FULL FRONTAL show, each week.....a little message from Chuck Lorre.....applicable at any time, to a number of situational considerations......{a scene from the film, DARLING, came to mind.....wherein Julie Christie loses her 'cool'....the 'escalator scene'}....[although I've not seen the film in several decades].......an example of how the aging brain's storage and retrieval mechanisms operate.......whereas, a scene from a film that I watched, only yesterday, has found no lodging place within my cerebral foldings....already congested with words and images, whole constructs of thought processing, embedded associational linkages and rationalizing tinker-toys.....constantly reformatted, like plastic molecules, filling the weak chemical bonds of ideational memory....Now, back to listening to the 'worth a penny' buck being passed around during this morning's Senate Hearings.......each snoll...
