My brief assessment of PROJECT RUNWAY...ALLSTARS first challenge, with some anticipatory anxiety......
I watched Project Runway Allstars' first episode/challenge, Jan. 2018, four years ago......
Predictably, Ken Lawrence bitched about the tacky materials....as though he had the good taste to make a silk purse from a plastic sow's ear!......as he had to to 'share' materials with Helen Castillo, who seems far less neurotic than she was during her 'season' on PR. It was that navel, Helen! Anthony Williams, who simply lacks any discerning taste.....and I had to look at his 'artistic' hair styles......was, customarily, grandiose in his self-assessment....like Ken.....but lacks any real elevated aesthetic sensibility......I'll give him another challenge, like Ken, before they both get booted for tickytackyness.....and on and on.....My favorites, from past shows....Char, Merline, Fabio....and step it up Fabio Costa.....you're in the slow lane so far.....have innovative tastes, so I hope they stick around, while dull as toast Stanley and Joshua unknowingly stand in line behind Casanova for the exit door...Watch those curves, Amanda....who's laying low so far.... I love Kelly...who wouldn't? She's smart, funny, creative and even humble....go girl!..... Melissa, Ari and Candace went flat for me last night, but I know they all have the 'goods' packed away..... Kimberly is serving me some indifference, since I've already forgotten her 'creation'.....and Atlanta designer, Edmund, didn't divert my attention from reading Sartor Resartus, with his basic gown, either ...Those materials! what a way to begin.....will they make ski outfits from aluminum gutter downspouts and sequined plastic dinosaurs, soon? My favorite challenges are the unusual materials challenges.....all these designers can make something 'good' from pricy, manageable silks, lace and leather! Bring on the tuna fish cans and bags of birdseed, shoe polish and garden sprinkler arms!.......
