TRAUMATIC MEMORY FIXATION
During a discussion with a college friend......my friend, who didn't remember "when/where" JFK was assassinated, asked me: 'What do you remember, Reed?"......I don't know where my keys, wallet or glasses 'are'...but I DO remember the look in Dr. Alexander Nelson De Armond Marchant's eyes, when he, standing behind a maple wood lectern, was handed a thrice-folded note, tears falling from his giant eyes, and he addressed our Freshman Class, who were seated in church pews......I was wearing a pink and black shirt and a pair of WWI Australian Army pants, a 10K onyx, diamond and gold ring from Bennett Bros. and a square Elgin watch with baton markers...when this event was "branded" into my memory.....For years, a hardened piece of pink double-bubble gum that stuck to the bottom of the 'left' suede shoe that I was wearing...reminded me of this tragic event....with every step......I finally scraped the hardened gum from the sole, ...
